Where an address actually leads, and whether it is known for anything.
Reads the address, not the page behind it.
Messages
The shape of a message: what it asks for, how it pressures you, what it threatens.
Judges the words in front of it, never who sent them.
Email addresses
Whether an address is what it appears to be, and whether it has turned up in a breach.
Cannot tell you who is behind an address.
Phone numbers
Checked against numbers people have reported.
Says so plainly when we have nothing on a number.
QR codes
What a code would do, before it does it.
Your phone reads the code; the picture never leaves the device.
Files
A file fingerprint checked against known-bad ones.
Checks the fingerprint. It does not open the file.
No guarantees
It tells you what it could not check
Every answer says what we checked and what we could not. A limit left out reads as coverage, so we state it. When we cannot be certain, we say so rather than rounding up to a clean answer.
